NV Liqueur Muscat My father in-law, Dick Townsend, loved to drink wine. He was famously known for enjoying prestigious and expensive bottles of red in the privacy of his lounge room bar then re-filling the empty bottle with wine given to him by his close friend John Petritti. He would share these “doctored” bottles with his shooting buddies and wait in anticipation for their favourable comments, sometimes revealing what the real wine is and sometimes not. It was widely known that you never really knew what you were drinking (or eating) at the Townsends. Dick kept a barrel of muscat behind his bar, originally filled with Petritti muscat, adding to it occasionally with liqueur wines, brandy etc given to him by friends. Dick has been gone now for 10 years, passing away at a dignified age of 80. He took his olive recipe with him but left behind a barrel of sticky, black, treackly muscat. We have freshened its contents, very proudly and quite rightfully with muscat produced by the Patritti family. Introducing Mr Wolf (whats the time?) This wine is dedicated to the Blackers, Testers, Patrittis and all who drank with Dick Townsend.
Footnote: Dick Townsend (his real name was Malcolm, he had 8 siblings non of whom were known by their birth names). won Australia's Amateur Hour back in the 50's. He was a yodeller. This is a photo of him during Reg Lindseys Western Swing Hour. Click below to hear his version of Swiss Mountaineer.
